Foundational Horsemanship Academy

Our adaptable curriculum, in English and Western studies, are great for students of all ages and abilities who are interested in horses and someday may want to own one. Here, our students get an educational experience in a safe and practical environment.

Horsemanship is a practice that takes commitment, discipline, and communication. Our foundational horsemanship program offers the opportunity for students to expand their interest in working with horses and enjoying the gifts they share, while learning mental and emotional skills that can be applied to daily life.

“The essential joy of being with horses is that it brings us in contact with rare elements of grace, beauty, spirit, and freedom.”

-Sharon Ralls Lemon

Education for horse lovers and future owners.

Horsemanship classes include riding but also handling skills, exercising, general horse care, fitness and ranch management.

SAFETY is a big focus as being around and riding horses comes with inherent risks.

However, having fun and enjoying ourselves is also important as spending time with horses can be very rewarding.

To quote one of my students.

“If it’s not safe, it’s not fun!” -Sadie

Roseshell's Roundup class options include private and semi-private lessons for students from age 4 to 100 and includes all members of the community.

Meet the Instructor/Teacher

Miss Roseshell

Loving horses is in my blood. I come from a line of cowboys that would herd cattle and train horses as a way of life. Today, I share my passion with everyday people who simply want to learn more about horses and get general exposure to them.

I've owned horses and been riding since I was 9. In my senior year of high school my dad and I started our first lesson business called an "Introduction to Horses". After spending time in corporate business climbing the ladder, I'm right where I belong, training horses and teaching. For the last 5 years, Roseshell's Roundup has offered an educational experience and unique services to students, of all ages and abilities, who just love horses. This IS my retirement job and I'm glad I'm back to it.
